Early 18th Century Mahogany Drop Leaf Dining Table

A very fine and well proportioned early 18th Century Mahogany drop leaf table (Circa 1730) in the manner of Giles Grendey of outstanding colour and patina. The table is made from the finest Cuban Mahogany. The legs unusually are splayed and note the rounded corners to the top of the legs, the top of the table has remained remarkably flat and the rule joint is in excellent condition. The hinges are original. An almost identical example attributed to Giles Grendey can be found in Adam Bowetts book : ‘Early Georgian Furniture’, page 256 plate 5:103, also see Christopher Gilbert, ‘Marked London Furniture 1700-1840′, fig. 441,p.244.

Fine 18th Century Walnut Card Table

A fine and rare early 18th century walnut card table of pleasing small proportions having straight cabriole leg and fine feather banded top. Believed to have come from a Scottish estate
The table is particularly well shaped with accentuated corners that really flow, it opens to reveal a green baize lined interior with guinea wells and candle stands. The colour, surface and originality of the table are very good.

18th Century Mahogany Chippendale Tripod Table

A Fine and rare 18th century Mahogany Chippendale tripod table with bird cage action Circa 1770. The edge of the top carved with ribbons and flowers, the stem fluted and carved with a twist, the leg carved with acanthus leaf terminating in a claw and ball foot. A similar example from the period can be found in Arthur Negus book ,Going for a Song: English Furniture, page 119 plate 56. See image opposite. It is a rare sight to see a table of this quality especially one with a carved edge to the top. As you would expect with such a fine table it is heavy when lifted due to the quality of the timbers used.
